“PALLAM” written and directed by the Nana Patekar of the Konkani Stage Donald and presented by AVC Kuwait in association with GWS-Kuwait on 28th May 2004 at Hawally Auditorium has made history.

Those who have missed it will regret for the time being because as per the review from the audience this is the show of the season. The acting spectacular, songs superb and the scenes mind-blowing.

Full credit should go to Donald. No director will venture with his maiden episode with so-called new faces by some critics. The cast had only Superstar Jose Rod, Jane Colaco and Donald himself on the professional side but Gracy, Joe, Joseph, Lawry and Xavier did not let Donald down. He and Jose Rod supported all these upcoming stars, which very few in Kuwait do. Hats off to Donald. There are actors in Kuwait who boasts themselves as professionals but cannot get their act together on stage and the day is not far when they will have only their self proclaimed names and no fame.

The superstar and Pride of the Konkani Stage Jose Rod once again mesmerized the crowd. He is definitely the super character icon of this decade. Once again he has put his critics to shame. No one in his right frame of mind will dare to criticize him in future. Every time he takes the stage he fulfills people’s expectations. Jose, the Konkani tiatro salutes you.

Donald has no match in acting and now he has proved that he is far ahead in writing and directing as well. Self proclaimed people should take a leaf out of him. Gracy has instilled the ethos of acting with her powerful performance and spontaneity. Jane as usual captivated the crowd with her scintillating performance proving once again why she was being voted as the best actress time and again. Joseph Rodrigues was charming as well as enterprising with his acting. He is indeed a boost to Konkani tiatro. Joe Fereira has served a notice to the public that he is powerful actor besides being a writer and director of one-act plays. Lawry with his humble looks did ample justice to his role. Xavier though acting sparsely in Kuwait has proved he can match any competition, this time deviating from his usually villainy roles.

The overseas stars were simply class. Melody Queen Antonette Mendes was as graceful as ever. Barbie doll Sucurrina was simply outstanding. Marcelin de Betim as usual was powerful. The Comedians Dominick and John D’Silva created riots of laughter in the audience.

The charismatic Zoro stole the show with his melodious voice and antics on stage and proved that he is the most appreciated singer. People’s favorite Michael D’Silva once again was at his best.

The musicians were in very high spirits. After along time some lively music was rendered to the konkani tiatro in Kuwait. A very good combination by Faustino, Succurro, Agnelo, Dennis and Phillip.

The audience did not have to strain the ears as the Music Masters provided their professionalism in the most clarifying manner.

The artistic genius Menino de Ribandar made history in Kuwait by his spectacular display. Very pleasing settings by Caetano and Santana (SPA) added grace to the show.

On the whole the show had class which is very rarely seen nowadays specially in Kuwait. It was a power packed compact show. If this show as announced progresses further in the Middle East then the konkani tiatr lovers in the gulf will a get taste of quality par excellence.

As promised AVC lived up to their fulfillment of providing the Kuwait Audience with a Spell binding Show and not a single person in the auditorium moved out of their seat. It looked like that PALLAM had them glued to their Seats.

Over all the show went off peacefully except for a minor incident wherein one President of a Goan Organization tried to disrupt the show for his own selfish gains. This gentleman openly portrayed to the Goan audience where his basics and ethics lie. Searching for cheap publicity has become their motto in life.

Such people should be treated as outlaws and should be bared from all future Goan shows. Goan Associations in Kuwait should disorient themselves from such hooligans who are infidels to our decent and peace loving society.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE MISSED THIS SHOW DON’T REGRET AS AVC WILL HAVE A REPEAT SHOW VERY SHORTLY BEFORE DONALD’S TOUR TO THE GULF. WATCH OUT FOR THE DATE & VENUE.

REMEMBER ITS AN AVC KUWAIT PRESENTATION.
